The Richmond Outsider : A Blog Exploring the Gay Point of View from a Richmond Outsider

I have posted a few things on the blog about how I have not felt very warmly embraced in the Richmond Scene – especially within the Richmond GLBT Community for the 4 years I have lived here. I guess that my feeling is shared with others as well. I have gotten a few comments on the blog and also some emails from people also feeling that they have not been embraced in the community here.

A discussion began about maybe forming a social network (via meetup.com) for other Richmond Outsiders (Thanks to Dave for bringing this up). I think that this may be a great way for us Richmond Imports to meet and start friendships and build our own community here.

I will write more on this later. I have spoked to GayRVA’s editor Kevin Clay about advertising a group if formed. This would be great and would reach more readers and may also start making Local Richmonder’s realize they need to open up a little more and stop being so cliquish.

I think we “Outsiders” should do this! I think it would be a great support and social networking possibility! I am posting this to see if there is interest and to maybe start moving into the next phase – starting a group on Meet-up.
